Satinder Chopra receives APEGA Summit Award

Satinder Chopra was recently awarded the Frank Spragins Technical Award at the 2014 APEGA Summit Awards. The award is presented to APEGA members recognized by their peers for integrity, expertise, and outstanding accomplishments in engineering or geoscience.

AAPG Jules Braunstein Memorial Award

At last month's AAPG Convention, Ritesh Kumar Sharma and Satinder Chopra received the AAPG Jules Braunstein Memorial Award for the best poster presentation at the 2013 AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition held in Pittsburgh.  Their poster was entitled ‘New seismic attribute for determination of lithology and brittleness’.

CSEG Recorder Honorable Mention

Satinder Chopra and Ritesh Sharma were recently awarded an Honorable Mention for their article "New attribute for determination of lithology and brittleness", published in the CSEG Recorder.

Peter Cary awarded SEG's "Geophysics Reviewer of the Year"

Peter Cary has been awarded the SEG's "Geophysics Reviewer of the Year" award, recognizing his dedication and service in his role as reviewer of a selection of papers submitted to SEG's The Leading Edge.  The award is presented at the SEG Annual Meeting.  This is the second year the award has been given.

Satinder Chopra receives Fellow of Geoscientists Canada designation

In June 2013, Geoscientists Canada announced the institution of the designation Fellow of Geoscientists Canada to recognize outstanding contributions to the geoscience profession in Canada.  We are proud to announce that Satinder Chopra was honored with this designation in its inaugural year.

Satinder Chopra & Kurt Marfurt receive CSEG Recorder Honorable Mention for 2012

The CSEG Recorder committee has selected the article entitled "Seismic attribute expression of differential compaction", co-authored with Kurt Marfurt, for one of two Honorable Mention awards for 2012.

Satinder Chopra & Ritesh Sharma receive the Braunstein Memorial Award at the 2013 AAPG Annual Convention

Satinder Chopra and Ritesh Sharma have been recently awarded the Braunstein Memorial Award at the 2013 AAPG Annual Convention and Exhibition held in Pittsburgh last April for their paper: '"New seismic attribute for determination of lithology and brittleness'". The poster presentation was made by Satinder.

The AAPG Jules Braunstein Memorial Award is given each year at the annual convention of the Association in recognition of the Best Poster Session paper presented. The Braunstein Award Committee considers the originality, new concepts or new interpretations, significance and usefulness in the presented posters.

Satinder Chopra receives the APEGA Voluntary Service Award in recognition of dedicated voluntary service to the affairs of the Association.

Ritesh Sharma & Satinder Chopra win Best Poster Presentation award for the 2012 GeoConvention

The paper entitled 'Determination of elastic constants using extended elastic impedance' by Ritesh K. Sharma and Satinder Chopra won the 2012 GeoConvention's "Best Poster Presentation" award.  The paper was presented at the 2012 GeoConvention held in Calgary AB in May 2012.

Satinder Chopra and co-authors Kurt Marfurt and Somanath Misra received a Top 30 ranking for their paper titled, "Seismic attributes on frequency-enhanced seismic data" at the 2010 SEG Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado.

The April 2010 AAPG Annual Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana saw Satinder Chopra and co-author Kurt J. Marfurt win the George C. Matson Award for the Best Oral Presentation for their presentation, "Detecting Stratigraphic Features via Cross-Plotting of Seismic Discontinuity Attributes and Their Volume Visualization".
