Velocity Model Building Toolbox

The Right Tools for the Right Complexity

Arcis’ velocity toolkit comprises proprietary visualization software and horizon-based stack scanning tools as well as Fusion’s comprehensive AIM model building package.

  • Initial model built using information from:
    • Time processing RMS velocity information converted to VINT
    • Well information
    • Client interpretation
  • Full range of velocity updating options:
    • Tomographic (both 2D and 3D), normal ray, or vertical updating
    • Hyperbolic residual moveout via automatic or manual semblance picking
    • Non-hyperbolic residual moveout via automated gather flattening
    • Flexible grid model concept supported by horizon-based options where appropriate
  • Stack scanning techniques in areas with low signal to noise ratios. Click to see interactive scanning demo (hyperlink to interactive PVEL demo)

Velocity errors

Velocity errors from semblance maxima (colour) overlain atop back projection points in grayscale. Backprojection points are zones of coherent specular reflection energy which drive tomography
