- Satinder Chopra Receives Awards
The 2008 SEG Convention had more than 1150 abstracts received for review, this year's Technical Program included 88 diverse
sessions. Geoscience professionals from all geophysical disciplines and all parts of the world were represented. Satinder Chopra
had three presentations at the convention and all three where voted to be in the top 30 best presentations!

- Work Safe Alberta 2008 Best Performer Award
Arcis was selected for
the Work Safe Alberta 2008 Best Performer Award for exceptional performance in
workplace health & safety.Of Alberta's 160,000 employers, approximately 700
earned this award. Arcis met the following criteria:
- Have no disabling injuries for 60 person years of employment and have no
more than one disabling injury per additional 60 person years of employment.
For example: an employer would need to have a minimum of 60 + 60 = 120
person years of employment before they could have a single disabling injury
and still be considered for an award
- Have no outstanding compliance orders under Alberta's Occupational Heath
and Safety (OHS) Legislation.
- Have no violations of the OHS Act in connection with any incident
investigated by Alberta Employment, Immigration an Industry during the past
two years.
- No workplace related fatalities in the previous three years.
- Are not currently being prosecuted for a violation under Alberta's OHS
Legislation
"Thank you for your ongoing commitment to the health and safety of Alberta's
workers. This is a most significant achievement - which you have every right to
celebrate!" wrote Hector Goudreau, Minister, Employment and Immigration of
Alberta.
- Arcis ranks 196 in Alberta for Venture 100 (and Next 100)
Annually, Alberta Venture magazine ranks Alberta-based companies,
based on revenue, to determine the top 100 companies (and
the next 100). The list includes public, private and crown
corporations. Arcis ranked 196 in 2006 with revenues of
$63,353,000 (2005 revenues). The top ten are:
Imperial Oil, Petro-Canada, EnCana, Shell, Husky, Suncor, CNRL, Enbridge, Talisman and Nova Chemicals.
