September 12, 2006 marks ten years to the day when the
numbered company (ARCIS) was formed and our adventure began.
Our vision at the time was to create an integrated
geophysical services company focused on technical excellence
and superior service. Having reached our first decade as a
company we reflect on the obstacles we bridged, the
successes and the failures; but above all, the people we have
assembled as our staff and the people we have had the
opportunity to work with as clients. From our early years as
a public company and surviving $10 oil in 1999, to the privatization of the company
in 2003/04, and through to today, two items carry the torch that remains lit,
our vision and our values.
Vision is something we began with as we built the mold for the company ten years ago.
Selection of the name ARCIS presented a vision in itself. As
defined in the Latin dictionary as fortress or stronghold,
the name reflected our desire to create a long life company
with a strong foundation, while also creating a place for
our staff to grow and develop. Looking forward to the next
ten years, we've modernized our vision statement to reflect
current economic conditions; Awesome seismic imaging...
doing our part to satisfy the world's appetite for energy.
The
personal values of our Founders, from day one, remained
focused on integrity, honesty, family and community. Our
corporate values have evolved over time, with experience, to
include; accountability, results, customer focus, integrity
and social responsibility. Retaining these values in our daily interactions has allowed us to traverse many challenges along the way.
As we embark upon year ten we have grown from the concept of two people to a community of roughly eighty-five staff
who work together to execute plans and deliver quality products and services to our clients. Some highlights entering year ten include: recognition by the Alberta government as one of the top 350 Best Safety Performance Companies, owning one of the most modern 3D data libraries in Western Canada; having broadened our processing spectrum to now provide
data processing services in as many as eight foreign countries; currently processing one of the largest data volumes on land in North America; and launching our predominantly proprietary processing software on some of the latest technology offered today. We will top off some of our technical efforts with our first exhibit south of the 49th where we will be present at the SEG in New Orleans;
where we hope you will come and visit.
Through the growth we have maintained our commitment to family and community. Arcis actively supports numerous organizations in Calgary including
The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC), Providence Child Care, United Way, the Salvation Army,
the CSEG Scholarship Trust Fund, arts-related productions,
and numerous CSEG/CSPG events to name a few. This year we will top off our ten years with sponsorship of the world renowned Honens Piano Festival.
In closing, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our valued clients for your continued and trusting support over the years. Most importantly we thank the people we have met along the way that have enriched our lives, provided direction, and most importantly we thank our families for their support and encouragement to follow our goals and execute our vision.
We look forward to
celebrating our 10th anniversary with you at our Fall open house,
November 16th.
